Hurricane Ike

Posted by kRaZyAzN - September 11th, 2008

Yeah, I live in Texas, not that far from the coast. In a small suburban town called Katy, a little west of Houston.

Well, our school is canceled for this Friday, but we'll have to make it up later on in the year. A lot of people are evacuating, a lot of them are overreacting; it's like Rita three years ago. Store shelves are empty, etc. etc.

Last time, during Rita, our family evacuated to a friend's place in Austin, but not this time. I can only hope that the storm dies out like Rita, minimal damage. Don't even know if we'll have school on Monday yet.

Nothing much more to say. Just hope that everyone will be safe during this Hurricane.

EDIT 9-12-08: lol@people buying 20 gallons of gas so that they can sell them at a higher price. What genius I'm seeing here.

EDIT 9-13-08: The hurricane has pretty much passed. We've got some broken fences, pines all over our driveway, but that's pretty much it.

New blog coming soon, plus I'm unbanned!

Im in texas,At the present time,And i can fucking see it out my window.

wow, it's still really bright and sunny outside right now. My god, hope it won't do too much damage.

that sucks I live in Oregon about 50 miles away from newport. Which is right next to the coast.

I don't think there's any hurricanes from the Pacific, are there?

So your staying, well best of luck to you then.

I am, thank you.

Well that sucks. Good luck to you if Ike ends up getting classified as a severe storm or something...

It's only a category 2, but it is HUGE. It can cover the whole state of Texas. I think I'll be fine here though.

I'm glad I live in MA. The worse we get is relatively annoying amounts of snow.

yeah, weather here isn't that great. Hurricanes, heat, etc.

I hope that you'll be safe man!

Thanks.

I'm in VA, worst thing I've ever gotten is Hurricane Isabel, which was a joke. All that happened was that there was a downpour for about...an hour? I don't even think we got 6 inches of rain during that so-called "downpour".

oh wow. I was born in Virginia.

I just saw some newspaper article saying how Texas is "bracing itself for Ike" apparently. It also said that "people in low-lying areas are warned of certain death", so if that's right, hope you're not living in a low area. And it seems that Ike is only hitting the right section of Texas (about a fourth of Texas total?), so if you're not there, then I don't think you have THAT much to worry about.

Apologies if any of this turns out to be wrong, the newspaper does like to lie occasionally.

And I know you were born in VA, you told me that before.

oh really. GO GALVESTON SEAWALL!! STOP THOSE WAVES!! YEAH!! I don't live that close to the coast. Maybe some power outages, rain, yucky weather, but that's about it. I'm not that worried.

Oh really? I forgot.
